When you think of Van Gogh, what comes to mind? Brilliant artist gone mad and painter behind the famous “Starry Night”? These are all things that most people know Van Gogh for. What made him so unique though is his thoughts and dreams and the way he translated them to color. Beyond Van Gogh Austin allows you to be fully immersed into his paintings and takes you inside his tortured but beautiful mind.

The exhibit uses projection technology to create a dreamspace atmosphere. Using light and color, the audiovisual designers bring Van Gogh’s masterpieces to life, letting them appear and dissappear across four walls and the floor. The visitor gets to watch light, color, and shapes swirl and refocus into flowers, cafes, and landscapes from his paintings, all set to a symphonic score.
As true art lovers, this experience was the perfect date night for us!
If you hear a voice within you say you cannot paint, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.

The front hall-way of the exhibit instantly took my breath away. The rest of the exhibit was mesmorizing and every visitor seemed to be in dream-like trance. Once we were in the final projection room, we saw his recognizable classics “The Starry Night”, “Sunflowers”, and “Cafe Terrace at Night”. It felt like we were actually in the paintings – an experience I would pay for over and over again.
There is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.

Final Words – Beyond Van Gogh Austin
I loved the final room so much that I stayed for another thirty-minute cycle. I left with a new appreciation for this prolific artist’s legendary work. Beyond Van Gogh is now open until September 5th – I highly recommend making the visit out there!
