SAFE TRAVEL IDEAS FOR 2021
Do a Staycation in Your City
Put on your tourist hat and make a date to explore your own city. Sometimes we get comfortable and don’t appreciate the beautiful spots in our own backyard. You can do this solo, with your significant other, or even make it a girl’s outing! You will be pleasantly surprised at all of the cool places you will find. My favorite tip is to check out sites like TripAdvisor and see what tourists rave about when they visit your city! There might be some experiences you haven’t tried yet. 2021 is the time.
Go on Road Trips
Under safe and responsible circumstances, taking a road trip this year can be a great way to vacation. There are some amazing sights you can see from the comfort of your car. Not only are you traveling through remote places but you are supporting the local small businesses along the way, a win-win for everyone. Remember to always use caution, follow updated CDC guidelines, and check the conditions of your route beforehand.
Stay at a Cool Airbnb
Staying in a cool Airbnb, even for only a weekend, can be a really easy and exciting trip. I have found so many unique and interesting places to stay while exploring the site! This would be a great experience to swap for those generic hotel rooms.
Go Glamping
Have you ever been glamping? 2021 is your year to try! Glamping is shorthand for ‘glamorous camping’ i.e. luxurious camping. Meaning, you can bypass the dirty and sweaty tent and instead stay in air-conditioned, cozy accommodations that mimic a campsite! It’s all the fun of camping in nature while still having your normal comforts of home.
Hike a National Park
This travel idea speaks for itself. Hiking a National Park is a great socially-distanced adventure to go on in 2021. The United States alone has 423 national parks waiting for you to explore. Also, don’t forget any state parks that could be right around the corner from your home!
Learn a New Language
With all the time not spent traveling, 2021 can be the year you finally learn that new language! Or perhaps become fluent in one you have already started learning. Regardless, it will be exciting to have this new language in your toolbelt and give you so much to look forward to when you travel internationally in the future. If you need some tips for learning a language quickly at home, check out my article My Top 6 Tips for Learning a New Language Fast.
Cook a Dish From Another Country
Cooking a unique dish is a fun way to make you feel like you are traveling the world without leaving your house. Try cooking different recipes from your favorite countries to bring the experience and flavor of that country right to your kitchen. Italian night, Sushi rolling, Pad Thai… the possibilities are endless. Up the ambiance by playing music from that country while you cook!
