Looking for some quick tips before visiting Austin City Limits this year? Look no further. At the end of this post, I include a list of 8 tips that I wish I had known before my first visit to ACL in 2018. Enjoy!
Austin City Limits is a 3-day event recurring the first two weekends of October every year showcasing artists from Alternative, Rap, EDM, and Rock genres. The festival is located in the heart of Austin, Texas at Zilker Park, a spacious park venue with rolling hills and a skyline view of the city.
On the first night, Friday, we were blessed by Sir Paul McCartney serenading us with Hey Jude. By far my favorite part of the weekend.
The food stands at the festival were top notch with tons of options from vegan food, street style foods, smoothies + juices, and desserts.
I have to say that I was quite impressed with ACL’s phone app. The whole festival was organized and well prepared!
The final day we watched Travis Scott give ACL an exciting performance. Make sure that your clothes are breathable because October in Texas still pretty much falls under Summer weather for other states. It is HOT.
Would I go to ACL again? Yes. Yes indeed.
If you plan on going then check out ACL’s information page linked here. They have everything you can and can’t bring listed. It also includes the maps for the festival and where you can park and take the shuttle.
I made a list of super simple things to keep in mind to help prepare you for your ACL experience. Hope it helps!
My Top 8 Tips for Austin City Limits:
1. Buy your tickets earlier for 3-day admission, as it is normally cheaper and you don’t risk weekend one getting sold out first.
2. Download the ACL app. It has an extremely useful interactive map. Not only does it have the whole lineup schedule, it allows you to create your own custom schedule and where to find each artist at what time!
3. Stay hydrated! There are several water stations around the park. I suggest bringing a hydration backpack.
4. Establish your festival shoes – comfortable & OK to get dusty.
5. Bring a fanny pack. (check the prohibited bags list) Pack sunscreen and sunglasses!
6. Go to the festival with a fully charged phone, otherwise, it will get drained with the ACL app and all of your photo taking. Can’t order that Uber on the way home with a dead phone!
7. Communicate with friends and establish a meeting time and place when you see them. Phone service can be limited in the park.
8. Locate the uber/lyft pick-up points and parking garages prior.
Enjoy your time at ACL!
